RISING STRONG FROM DENIAL

pastormia20

I continue to be amazed with the human capacity for denial, including my own. When things are unpleasant, we put enormous effort into denying rather than dealing. No time is that more true than when our own guilt is involved. Denial can become pervasive. “White fragility” is the name given this denial we put up rather than dealing with our own racism.

All humans have guilt, even the holiest among us. Peter, Jesus’ closest disciple and head of the early church, carried terrible guilt and denial. This Sunday we’ll hear how Jesus dealt with Peter, helping him be honest and dealing with his guilt. Then we’ll see Peter rise strong from denial, and how we can too.

Peace,

Pastor Mia
