GOD LIKES TO SHOW OFF: LIFTING UP THE LOWLY

God does it over and over and over – lifting up the lowly and doing great things through them. It reminds me of the Princess Bride when Inigo Montoya begins a sword fight with his left hand, because he’s so good and it would make the sword fight last longer. God is so good, that God picks people who are the least able to do great things, and then does great things through them. God is just showing off.

And perhaps there is more. People on the bottom of the social ladder are told in a million different ways that they are not valuable, unworthy, incapable, and unwelcome. Have you ever felt that way? And then God comes along and works through these folks, giving them a new status, as people entrusted with the strength and miracles of God.

This Sunday you’ll hear about how God uses young people and old people, raising them to new life in the kingdom of God.
