We are good. We can be better. Our prayer is good. Our prayer can be better.
As we continue through the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus’ Greatest Hits, we arrive at Jesus teaching “this is how you should pray…” We call it the Lord’s Prayer, or the prayer that Jesus taught, or the Our Father. It’s short. It’s punchy. And it’s challenging.
This prayer is a true conversation — telling God what we need, and listening for what God needs us to know. It’s honest about our needs, which aren’t nearly as complicated and they can feel. And it’s honest about citizenship in the Kingdom of Heaven. It is a prayer that changes us.
