They say that people have greater doubt in God today than ever before. But I wonder if doubt isn’t new, only the way we talk about it. Jesus transformed into his heavenly glory before Peter in this Sunday’s gospel and Peter was *surprised*. Peter doubted, and he saw Jesus face-to-face.
But then there are those moments, when you just know that God is right there, loving you, calling you, protecting you. You may not see a shining face, but you see God’s finger prints all over. Something happens and you realize that your understanding of God is so small, and that the real God is so much bigger. So much bigger!!
Sometimes that’s why we come to church. We want to be reminded that God is real. That God is glorious! And that God is still going around transforming right in front of us.
