LAMENT & HOPE

When we cry out our sorrow and grief to God, it is with confidence that God hears and God cares. It’s also with hope that things will change. And they always do. No bad thing ever lasts forever. No grief never ends. No pain persists eternally.

But God does last forever. God never ends. God persists eternally. Our hope in God is with confidence and expectation that God will deliver us. Even in the face of death, God brings resurrection.

That confidence gives us the courage to be honest in our lament — honest about our suffering and honest about our sin.
