Welcoming God with open arms changes us. Accepting the love of God, and coming to trust that love, softens our hearts and our attitudes. It is no more difficult than leaves opening up to receive the sunlight. And it changes everything. The spiritual journey of loving and trusting God can take us all the way to loving our enemies.

It’s a long path that starts with treating others as we would want to be treated. It proceeds to forgiving, giving, and resisting judgement. With hearts softened by the love of God and grateful for the forgiveness of God, we extend our compassion even to those who have hurt us — praying for those who mistreat us, blessing those who curse us, and genuinely loving our enemies.

I’m looking forward to worship our loving, forgiving God with you this Sunday, opening our arms and letting faith change us.

Have you noticed a pattern in the Ten Commandments? First it’s about God and then it’s about people.  Honor God & honor people.  Keep promises to God & keep promises to people.  Have integrity with Go
