Questions to God

The Christmas Eve service is always so moving to me, because following the Scriptures, we’re honest about darkness.  I love the idea that Christmas is “the happiest time of the year” but I’ve been an adult long enough to know it is just not true.  Christmas is wonderful and beautiful, but many of the pressures of daily life increase often making Christians the most stressful time of the year.

So I love that we acknowledge darkness in the world.  I feel that darkness, and I am not strong enough to get rid of it.  And then we light the Christ candle.  God’s light so easily pushes out the darkness, creates beauty and warmth and peace with just the addition of light.

All of us carry questions for God or about God.  I love those questions that people often hesitate to share, because they are the most real.  I think for many of us, those questions remain with us for our lifetimes, forming our spirituality.

You shared yours and we’ll be addressing them in the coming week.  It doesn’t take a deep reading of Scripture to see how universal those questions are.  What fun to spend six weeks delving into them!

Peace,

Pastor Mia
