Some things are too big to believe until we experience them. Real love is that way. No amount of writing words can communicate real love without the experience of relationship, of seeing and talking and walking with a person. Resurrection is the same. Thomas had heard that Jesus rose, but he couldn’t believe until he experienced the risen Christ. He needed to see and touch for himself.
Just as love must be tested to be trusted, and we do that naturally, resurrection and faith are the same. It’s OK to be skeptical. Skepticism and doubt are limiting only when we remain stuck and ashamed. Instead, skepticism can become the motivator for testing faith and letting God give us the experience we need. “Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side.”
