Lent is a time of sorrow and sin, both of which we tend to run away from. Grief is hard and painful, so we lack patience with sorrow. Sin carries a different kind of difficulty. When we acknowledge our sin, we also acknowledge our responsibility to release that sin.
This Lent we will be lamenting both our sorrows and our sins. Lament is powerful and ancient. It is a way of acknowledging our grief and hurt, and connecting to God who comforts and heals us.
We begin on Ash Wednesday with ashes and continue for six weeks of Lent, preparing for the great feast of Easter!
Peace,
Pastor Mia
